We contend that New Calvinism is a movement that is based on the ideas of men rather than God’s Word. Rather than proclaiming the faith once delivered to the saints, New Calvinism seeks a religion that is pleasing to men, a religion that glories in contemporary worship and that encourages worldly behaviour in the church. New Calvinism is a movement that skilfully combines the holy with the profane, and that has carelessly separated conduct and doctrine. The result is a confused religion that tends towards antinomianism and unbecoming, undignified conduct in the church. Prominent leaders of the New Calvinist movement include Dr John Piper, Pastor Mark Driscoll, Dr Tim Keller and Dr Albert Mohler among many others.

John Piper of ‘Desiring God Ministries’ fame has been massively influential in the New Calvinism movement. He has used his popularity to promote the ideas of New Calvinism among young people at the huge annual gatherings for spiritual awakening known as Passion conferences. Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle has a great appeal among young people. He has planted numerous Act 29 churches in the USA and in other countries around the world, such as the UK and Australia. He is a popular conference speaker and skilled in using the internet. He is reported to be the most downloaded Christian pastor in history.

Dr Tim Keller is the pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York and a prominent leader of The Gospel Coalition. He is the author of many books and considered by many to be a deep Christian thinker. He believes in contextualising the gospel to make it culturally acceptable to those living in the inner city.

Dr Albert Mohler, a respected theologian, is the head of the Southern Seminary of the huge Southern Baptist Convention.

What these four men have in common is that they are all council members of The Gospel Coalition in the USA.

The appeal of New Calvinism is that it claims to teach the profound doctrines of the Reformation. It claims to be rediscovering the doctrines of grace, and the five points (TULIP) of John Calvin. While these claims have a great attraction to young people, many who are disillusioned with the superficiality of the charismatic movement, they have little basis in reality, for on closer examination, as we demonstrate on this website, the teachings of New Calvinism have only an appearance of doctrinal soundness. The reality is that they are far removed from the teachings of the Reformers, many of whom were martyred for their faith, the Puritans, Charles Spurgeon and others who delivered the Church from the clutches of Rome.

We believe that the teachings and conduct of New Calvinism contains serious errors. We contend that it propagates false teaching in the Church of Jesus Christ, misleading thousands upon thousands of young people who are particularly vulnerable to its attractive menu. While appearing to have a form of godliness, the New Calvinist movement denies the power thereof. This website seeks to demonstrate the errors of New Calvinism and calls upon Christians to return to the old ways of the true Reformed faith that is built on the blood of the martyrs.
